Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the art of applying essential oils, usually by massaging the “stress” areas of the body such as back, shoulders, face and legs. Essential oils are extracts that contain the substances that give plants their smell.

Aromatherapy is believed to be suitable for people of all ages, even babies. It is used to treat many conditions and helps with nervous disorders such as depression, anger, stress and other related symptoms like headaches and insomnia.

What happens during a treatment?

The client will be asked to sit on a special massage chair or to lie on a massage couch. She/he may need to undress (in private), but only the parts that will be receiving treatment. The therapist will keep the body covered with a towel or blanket during the whole treatment.

The therapist will use her/his knowledge and skills to select essential oils that will best help the condition. These will be added to a “carrier” oil, such as almond or coconut oil, and this will be massaged into the skin. The experience is very relaxing.
